Course Completion Records

Types of records

  1. System Records - These are the internal, system-maintained, records of completion and are permanently stored within each Learning Management System (LMS). They are regularly extracted by Learning and Development (L&D) for Department reporting, and are always secure and retained. Should you need to provide proof of training to external entities, then you must retain your Certificates because L&D do not provide such information.
  2. Certificates - A Certificate is available when you complete an online course. Clicking on the link generates a Certificate for downloading, as well as emailing you a copy. Where the course has expired you will not be able to generate another Certificate. However you can still view your Bade which includes some basic course information. For example the Accountable and Ethical Decision Making (CR.007145) online course was updated in June 2021 so a Certificate will no longer be available if you completed it before then; you need to view your Badge for completion information instead.
  3. Badges - A Badge is automatically assigned to your profile on Moodle as a digital record of your online course completion. When you view a Badge you will see the date it was issued, signifying your date of completion for the online course. However downloading the Badge will only provide the course name. To view a Badge, click on it. Your completion information will be displayed. Screenshot this to save it. Badges are useful for display within the LMS and are not designed to replace Certificates. They should only be used as proof of course completion if a Certificate is not available.  See more on Certificates and Badges.
